Google Adsense is a service which almost every blogger on the earth uses. For some it’s the primary source of income. With Google Adsnese, bloggers earn money by placing Google Ads on their blogs/website. Whenever users click them, the blog owner gets paid by Google. Adsense is one of the best revenue generating program for blogger.

We guess, you are well aware of how to place Adsense ads on your blog. Today, we are going to tell you how you can integrate Adsense ads in your blog’s RSS feeds and get some extra cash by clicks on them.

To setup ads for your RSS feeds, navigate to the following link after logging into your Adsense account:

https://www.google.com/adsense/aff-settings

After that, you’ll be greeted by Adsense for Feeds dashboard. Here, you can choose from various options for ads according to your convenience. These options are:

  1. Name : The name for your ad unit
  2. Size : The size of your ad unit
  3. Ad Type : Text or Image Ads
  4. Frequency : How rapidly you want your ads to be displayed
  5. Post Length : Here you can tell google, for which post length, ads are to be displayed
  6. Position : You can set position for your ads here

After customizing options, you can add your channel to the account and burn the feed.

That’s it. Adsense is now configured for your RSS feeds and readers, who use feeds to read the contents of your website would also be treated with ads. Another way to get some extra cash :P

Got any suggestions for Adsense? Post them to Google

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Google-product-Ideas-753081A lot of publishers have complaints against the adsense system. Be it analytics, accidental clicks or just plain ’same ads appearing on the same page’, there are a lot of issues that adsense members want to reach across to the adsense team. And here’s your chance now. For the next two weeks Google Product Ideas will take in suggestions for adsense from anyone having a valid adsense account.

As mentioned earlier, the only prerequisite that you need is a valid adsense account.

At the time of posting 105 ideas from 157 people had been submitted. Of them the main suggestion seem to be

  • More efficient Google adsense and Google analytics collabration
  • Not repeating the same ad (content-wise) on the same page
  • More control over ad-unit once it is created (such as delete the ad-unit or changing the ad-sizes)

You can go to this page to view the suggestions over even post some of your own.

Monday Morning Blues [23rd Nov 09]

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

This week I am back with ‘Monday Morning Blues‘ series of posts. A lot of things have happened in the last 2 weeks and the major change at Devils Workshop is that our contest ‘Blogger of the Month‘ has now become ‘Blogger$ of the Month‘.

mon_morn_blues2311

Blogger$ of the Month

We will have three winners instead of one. The one who is rated 1st will get $75, rated 2nd will get $50 and finally the guest author who is rated 3rd gets $25. :-)

First Time Authors

A lot of new writers who have started to contribute to DW often submit posts which are sometimes copied from other sources. Devils Workshop has a strict policy regarding its content. There is one simple rule and that rule is your content has to be original. There have been a couple of instances when someone has reproduced an article from a magazine. This is not something we allow either.

Adsense Account

Some authors have many questions regarding Adsense account being configured for DW. We earn revenues from our Adsense account for which we use the DW’s URL. If you are creating an adsense account and for that you need to submit a URL then that URL has to be either your of your blog or even a friends blog. You cannot give DW’s URL as that will get rejected. We are now allowed to give DW’s URL to be shared with Adsense.

Friend Connect: How it can micro-target adsense?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Friend Connect is quite a potent way for website owners and bloggers to become micro-sensitive to visitors. There are many new changes with this service and it allows for a greater amount of information to be shared in the form of interests and hence allowing visitors to find relevant people and websites online.

How will Friend Connect help?

Friend Connect will allow visitors on a website to share information through member gadgets and can have relevant ads from Google Adsense using information taken with the various interactive web gadgets. For example if you put up Nokia as your favorite mobile maker while on a mobile review website, Friend Connect will get you relevant Nokia ads with Google Adsense.

This can be quite handy as it will actually increase the chances of someone clicking on the ads being displayed on the website. This may not be very handy for big websites as the assumption with Friend Connect is that all your visitors might have a Google account especially for certain features but it is very handy for bloggers as it is mainly an interactive tool to help make the content on your website sensitive to what visitors are interested in.

What is Friend Connect?

  • Friend Connect has a lot of new gadgets you can add-on to build a community for your blog. It allows you to send newsletters, gather users’ interests and review data.
  • It allows you to exchange messages on the website via poll gadgets or interests’ section can be included on to a website using HTML code which is generated by Friend Connect.
  • A neat way to get feedback about your blog with Friend Connect is their Ratings and comments web-gadgets which can be great way to get instant feedback on the content of a website.

List of 100% adsense Revenue Sharing sites

Friday, October 16th, 2009

This entry is part 1 in the series popular

adsensecheck

DW is an adsense revenue sharing site and such websites allow you to generate revenue through Adsense from the posts you contribute.These sites have high rankings and Google is calculating CPC based on the smart pricing method, where the statics of the page (where you got the click) is very important in determining the value of a click.The sites can surly increase your CPC. Also keep in mind that they have a lot of loyal readers who possibly reads your articles also (more readers=more clicks=more money). Rather than Just money, you can also earn some authority and experience through these posts!

Here I am compiling a list of 5 such sites, which allows Adsense revenue sharing on their posts.

1.Devils Workshop (DW):

I think that there is no need to describe DW.You can earn money from your posts in DW through Adsense revenue sharing system and can also win $100 if you became the ‘Blogger of the Month’.My favorite site where i makes guest posts.

2.SheToldMe ;

Another favorite of mine.It’s the best way to earn from adsense.Here, Instead of writing,  you have to share articles – i.e, this is a social bookmarking site like Digg and reddit.Through this site, You can promote your blog and also earn from adsense.You can even earn money by sharing the articles of others.

3.Hubpages ;

One of my favorite.You want to create ‘hubs’  and can earn money from the ads displayed in the hubs.Each posts is a page which is called hubs.Most of all hubs are added on the front page of Google and is highly SEO optimized.

4.Flixya ;

It is an image, video, blog sharing site, which posts your ads on the shared pages and shares with you 100% Adsense revenue generated from the contents you share.

5.Simpy ;

It is also another social bookmarking site just as SheToldMe.It also allows 100% Adsense revenue sharing to the contributors. Here too you can promote your blog or earn by other’s contents.

There are many other Adsense revenue sharing sites, which pays from 50%-100%. Anyway, this concept is accepted by Google and is the best way to make more money.

In my opinion, if you have an Adsense account you must checkout the DW and shetoldme.

Simple Ads (for automatic before and after post and page content advertising)

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

This is a plugin that operates in a similar fashion to our Supporter Advertising plugin – but where that plugin allows bloggers to remove their ads by paying to become supporters, this one doesn’t.

It’s made for WPMU site owners that simply want to insert ads before and after post content, across their site, and not have it removed or replaced by any other ads by any users.

Simply download and install the plugin and then configure it via the new Site Admin > Adverting submenu.

It allows you select whether you’d like ads before and and after post and page content, a maximum number of ads that you’d like to display and whether you want to disable ads showing on the main blog.

Not bad huh!

Here are the options:

And here it is in action:

Enjoy!

How To Show Ad Based on Author in a BlogSpot Blog

Friday, August 28th, 2009

moneytravel_thumb.gifOver here at Devil’s Workshop, Rahul bro has implemented a cool revenue sharing program, wherein the advertisement that appears on the post belongs to the author itself. For eg. in this post the ad that is displayed below the post title is my ad. Any revenue generated by clicks on the above ad, is paid to my adsense account. But the thing is that with plugins like Advertising Manager, this method is easy to implement in Wordpress. On blogger its a little more extra code. See how you can implement it in Google’s BlogSpot.

Follow these steps to implement this hack in blogger:

  1. Search for the place that you are going to insert your ad in. For this tutorial I am taking the space after the post title.
  2. Find <data:post.body/>
  3. Insert the following code:

    <b:if cond=”data:post.author== “Ricky”>
    <!– Ricky’s Ad code here–>
    </b:if>

    <b:if cond=”data:post.author== “Joe”>
    <!– Joe’s Ad code here–>
    </b:if>

  4. Done!

The code is pretty self-explanatory. Suppose the authors name is Joel, replace Ricky in the first line of the code. Also don’t forget to insert the ad code in place of <!– Ricky’s Ad code here–> or the place. If you have more authors, just repeat the three lines again and again.

Whats the Advantage of such a thing?

To increase the traffic for a blog the main thing that is required is fresh content that is regularly updated. When you offer a revenue sharing program like this, people get interested quickly, because there is an incentive in it for them.

They will post regularly for you, because the more they post, the more they can earn. And due to the fresh content you get more traffic day by day. Its a win-win situation for everyone at last!

Internet Advertising Catches Up But Frustrates Consumers!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

clip_image002According to the LinkedIn Research Network/Harris Poll of 1,015 advertisers from agencies or corporations who are involved in the advertising decision making process, advertisers are now switching more and more from Print Ads to Internet and digital advertising. Report also reveals that consumers in today’s world find many characteristics of Internet advertising very frustrating.

  • 92% advertisers are typically incorporating Internet advertising into their media campaigns
  • 88% advertisers say they are incorporating print advertising.
  • 46% advertisers say they typically incorporate radio advertising
  • 46% advertisers say they typically incorporate television advertising
  • 39% advertisers say they incorporate digital advertising, such as through cell phones.

Type of Media Advertising used

Usage of Media Advertising

image

Internet advertising

  • Just 14% advertisers say they only use Internet advertising as a standalone digital campaign
  • 54% advertisers say they use it in an integrated campaign with other media
  • 33% advertisers use Internet advertising in both types of campaign equally.

Internet advertising is used in a broad number of ways:

  • 79% advertisers, i.e., 4 in 5 advertisers who use Internet advertising use it as a branding device.
  • 65% advertisers, i.e., two-thirds use it to drive information gathering for an offline transaction.
  • Slightly less than 3 in 5 advertisers, i.e., 58% use Internet advertising to drive online transactions
  • 57% say they use it to promote community around their brand, through such things as message boards, memberships and fan clubs.

Consumers find Internet advertising FRUSTRATING!

image

  • 4 in 5 consumers, i.e., 80% say they find ads that expand on the page and cover the content very frustrating
  • 79% say ads where they can’t find the close or skip button are very frustrating.
  • Three-quarters of consumers, i.e., 76% find Internet ads that automatically pop up very frustrating
  • Two-thirds, i.e., 66% say ads that open if they are “moused over” are very frustrating.
  • 3 in 5 consumer, i.e., 60% find both animated ads that automatically start playing and ads that play music and/or have loud soundtracks to be very frustrating.

Advertisers clearly have to walk a fine line. At least three in five consumers are very frustrated with six of the main Internet advertising characteristics, and there is the potential to see a backlash forming. Internet advertisers will have to invent more engaging ways to connect with the end users.

Share your comments on what you think about these latest trends.

God Save Adsense!

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Google Adsense, as we know, is the pioneer of content-related advertising, using bloggers, small-time business or any website (that gets approved!) as advertising estate. Their revenue system helps many people get online and earn a little dough (or for some people like Rahul, a full-time income!) The ads come from another Google service called Adwords, where advertisers just create ads and set of on campaigning. However, all this automated behavior by Google is bound to create bloopers!

Take for example, during the 26 Dec Mumbai shooting, the following ad was reported by notesfromearth on IBNlive (newportal):

Terrorism Anyone?
Terrorism Anyone?

Another weird ad, that came out due to the automated and non-reviewing nature of Adsense is seen below. This ad came in my Gmail account, when I was reading about Photoshop.

Qulity. Oh Yeah!
High qulity. Oh Yeah!

I’d have to say that this ad had no relation to the content I was reading, and the ad had no meaning or clarity itself!

Another one came in the Adsense dashboard of the author of Hoover Web Design Blog.

WTF!
WTF!

Here is another funny one from geckoandfly.com

Let me know what Google says!?
Let me know what Google says!?

Not saying anything against Google. It’s one of the best tools on the web that helps us earn money. However, a little rectification of that famous code could improve it. What say?
