want thumbnails on similar posts – including youtube posts

using current version of wordpress.
plugin I’m using to show similar posts by thumbnail = Best Related Posts – but open to suggestions – it seems to make choices more from written content of post than from tages etc.
currently it works great if the post has an image – takes first image and makes it thumbnail.
